Zusammenfassung:	An Internal combustion engine (1), preferably a two-stroke engine for a large vessel, comprises an exhaust outlet (2) for disposing of exhaust out of a combustion chamber and an air inlet (3) for introducing air into the combustion chamber. At least one turbocharger (4) is connected to the exhaust outlet (2) by an exhaust passage (5) wherein a particulate filter device (6) is arranged downstream the exhaust outlet (2) on the high pressure side of the turbocharger, in particular of a turbine of the turbocharger, preferably in the exhaust passage (5).
