Zusammenfassung:	Proposed is a breech block (1) with a breech block carrier (2) and a breech block head (3) and also with a separate striking mechanism (4) for triggering a firing pin (5) incorporated in the breech block head (3). The striking mechanism (4) has at least one lever, preferably two levers (12, 14), for engaging under a spring-tensioned sear (13). A rear tensioning ramp (17) and a front ramp (18) on the breech block carrier (2) serve for tensioning the spring (15) of the sear (13) in the striking mechanism (4) and also additionally for pressing the at least one lever (12, 14) to disengage it from under the sear (13) to release the sear (13). In the breech block head (3), a firing pin safety (8) is also incorporated in the firing pin (5). This obviates the need for a firing pin spring.
