The power limit circuit (12) includes a peak current detector (50), a divider (54), and a dynamic limiter (62). The power limit circuit (12) is configured to provide updated count outputs based on the initial count outputs, a sensed current, and a power threshold. The inverter (22) is controlled by the updated count outputs and configured to provide output power to a motor (24). The sensed current is sensed from the output power to the motor (24).
