Zusammenfassung:	An inkjet printer and a printing method are provided that can print a new pattern to be printed at an appropriate position relative to an existing pattern. An inkjet printer 1 newly prints a new pattern to be printed, that is different from an existing pattern, on an outer surface WS of a print object W having a spherical shape on which the existing pattern is printed. The inkjet printer 1 includes a retainer that retains the print object W, a carriage 103, and a projector 40. The carriage 103 prints the new pattern to be printed on the outer surface WS of the print object W. The projector 40 projects the new pattern to be printed and at least a part of the existing pattern together on the outer surface WS of the print object W retained by the retainer.
