Zusammenfassung:The present invention relates to a method of producing the 1-arylimino-2-vinylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid derivative represented by the formula (2) by reacting an N-(arylmethylene)glycine ester represented by the formula (1) with (E)-1,4-dibromo-2-butene using a sodium ethoxide at a yield which is close to that which is achieved when lithium tert-butoxide is used, preferably at a yield which is higher than or equal to that which is achieved when lithium tert-butoxide is used, without posing a problem with industrial-scale production. Further, the present invention contains a method of producing a (1R,2S)-1-arylimino-2-vinylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid derivative represented by the formula (4) by reacting an N-(arylmethylene)glycine ester represented by the formula (1) with (E)-1,4-dibromo-2-butene using a sodium ethoxide in the presence of an optically active catalyst.
