SUNSHADE ASSEMBLY AND OPEN ROOF CONSTRUCTION PROVIDED THEREWITH

A sunshade assembly comprises a flexible sunscreen (4) and two opposed longitudinal guides (6, 7) for guiding opposed longitudinal edges of the sunscreen. A rotatable winding shaft (5) is configured for winding and unwinding the sunscreen. An operating beam (8) is connected to the opposite transversal edge of the sunscreen. Two drive cables (9, 10) are connected to opposite ends of the operating beam and are guided in the opposed longitudinal guides in order to wind and unwind the flexible sunscreen. Two positioning members (16) are movable with the operating beam, wherein each positioning member extends into a corresponding one of said opposed longitudinal guides (6, 7). Each of the opposed longitudinal edges of the sunscreen near the opposite transversal edge is provided with a wing (17) folded inwards in a direction away from the respective positioning member (16), so that the wing (17) and the positioning members (16) are on opposite sides of the sunscreen (4). Each wing (17) is made accessible to the respective positioning member (16) from the opposite side of the flexible sunscreen (4) in order to engage it.
