Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method for pretreating a can body (1) made of a sheet metal to form a can before being filled with a predetermined filling material, said can body (1) comprising a can base (2) having an inwardly curving dome (3) and a circumferential standing edge (4) on the outer side of the can base (2). According to the invention, in order to prevent a subsequent deformation of the can base after the can is filled with a carbonated filling material, before filling, a pressure force is applied to the can base (2) in a direction from inside the can body (1) towards the outside, wherein the strength of the pressure force is selected such that the can base (2) freely deforms, in particular in the region of the standing edge (4).
