MEDICAL DATA TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

The disclosure relates to a medical data transmission system including a first transceiver (106) configured to detect the presence of and wirelessly receive medical data from a first medical device (104) via a first data signal; the first transceiver (106) emitting a first beacon signal detectable by the first medical device (104), a second transceiver (206) configured to detect the presence of and wirelessly receive medical data from a second medical device(204) via a second data signal; the second transceiver (206) emitting a second beacon signal detectable by the second medical device (204), and a computing entity (102) coupled to the first and second transceivers (106, 206) via a first port and a second port, respectively, the computing entity (102) executing software including a first module that simultaneously scans the first and second ports to determine whether the transceivers (106, 206) have detected a medical device (104; 204) and a second module invoked by the first module when a transceiver (106; 206) has detected the medical device (104; 204), the second module being configured to execute one of automatic downloading of data from the detected medical device (104; 204) and prompting a user to auhorize downloading of data from the detected medical device (104; 204).
