Extension module for a telecommunications module

Extension module (1) for a telecommunications module (10) having a first externally accessible wire contact (30) for securing a telecommunications signal wire thereto. The extension module comprises a) a contact engagement element (210), adapted to be mechanically engaged with, and electrically connected with, the wire contact of the telecommunications module, and b) a conductive wire connection element (220), adapted for conductively securing a telecommunications signal wire thereto, and electrically connected with the contact engagement element. The extension module further comprises engagement means (90) for engaging the extension module with the telecommunications module in such a manner, that, when engaged, at least a portion of the extension module can be moved into a closed position, in which the contact engagement element is in contact with the wire contact, and into an open position, in which the contact engagement element is not in contact with the wire contact.
