Zusammenfassung:	An electric pod drive for a ship comprises an electric motor with a stator (1) and a shaft (6) coaxial to the stator, a housing with at least one housing part (2) that extends axially at least partially along the stator and at least partially surrounds the stator in the circumferential direction, and at least one winding head (7) that protrudes from an axial front face of the stator. In order to provide an electric pod drive system with improved cooling, the electric pod drive comprises at least one turbomachine (5) arranged between the shaft and the housing and secured against rotation to the shaft, and the at least one winding head can be cooled by means of a first coolant that can be circulated by means of the at least one turbomachine.
