Furthermore, a method for scanning a slide is provided, the method comprising: disposing the slide in at least one recess of a rotatable tray; and rotating the rotatable tray, wherein the at least one recess is sized to receive a slide, and wherein the at least one recess stabilizes the slide in a scanning position as a result of rotation of the rotatable tray.
