DRIVING A MOVING BODY OF AN IMAGE READING DEVICE TO A STOP POSITION ON RETURN FROM ENERGY SAVING MODE

An image reading device includes: a moving body that moves to convey at least any of a light source that irradiates a document, a reflecting member that reflects reflected light from the document, and a photoelectric conversion element that performs photoelectric conversion on the reflected light; a driving unit that drives the moving body such that the moving body moves to a target stop position in a sub-scanning direction; a detecting unit that is arranged at a position away from the target stop position in the sub-scanning direction, and detects arrival of the moving body; and a control unit that controls the driving unit such that the driving unit is switched from being driven at high speed to a state of being driven at low speed.
