CONFIGURATION DEVICE AND METHOD FOR COMPUTER-IMPLEMENTED CONFIGURATION OF ONE OR MORE NETWORK DEVICES

A configuration device (1) and method for computer-implemented configuration of one or more network devices (9, 10, 11) connectable to an automation communications network (8) are described. The configuration device comprises a storage interface unit (4) and a processing unit (2) communicating with a user interface unit (5), wherein the processing unit (2) is arranged to automatically perform the configuration, after having received a duplication request from a user, by receiving input information identifying a source network device and at least one target network device, wherein either the target network device or the source and the target network device belong to the one or more network devices, retrieving from the at least one storage device (6, 7, 9a to 11a) source configuration parameters allocated to the source network device, and restriction settings, generating target configuration parameters by eliminating from the source configuration parameters those configuration parameters which are indicated by restriction settings not to be automatically overridden in the target network device, transmitting the target configuration parameters to the at least one storage device for storing therein.
