Electrical terminal and method for preparing a connector comprising such terminal

The invention relates to an electrical terminal (1) for terminating a wire, the electrical terminal comprises a crimp barrel (5) with a base (17) and opposing sidewalls (19a, 19b) extending from the base (17) and comprising a first region (9) for receiving strip conductors (35) of the wire and a second region (11) for receiving a wire part with insulation (37) wherein the opposing sidewalls (19a, 19b) in the first region (9) are configured and arranged such that they form an F-crimp when crimped. In order to improve the protection against moisture, the crimp barrel (5) further comprises a transition region (13) between the first and second region, wherein the sidewalls (23a, 23b) in the transition region are configured and arranged such that they are enveloping the wire with end regions of the sidewalls (45a, 45b) overlapping each other in the circumferential direction when crimped. The invention also relates to a connector comprising such an electrical terminal (1) and a wire and a corresponding method to fabricate such a connector.
