[Object] To provide an image obtaining apparatus and a method of measuring an inclination of a slide, capable of measuring an inclination of a slide glass in a short time. [Solving Means] An image obtaining apparatus includes: a stage on which a slide is to be mounted, the slide being obtained by applying a sample to a slide glass and covering the sample with a cover glass; a stage moving unit configured to move the stage; a detection unit configured to detect a position of the sample on the slide; an optical angle measuring apparatus configured to irradiate the slide glass mounted on the stage with laser light from the side opposite to the side on which the sample is mounted, the optical angle measuring apparatus being capable of detecting an inclination of the slide glass; and a controller configured to control the stage moving unit such that the position of the sample on the slide is irradiated with the laser light, and to cause the optical angle measuring apparatus to detect the inclination.
