The invention relates to a piece of seating furniture (1), comprising a frame (3), a seat surface (4) fastened thereto, and preferably a backrest (5) fastened to the seat surface, wherein a first fastening element (7) arranged approximately in the center below the seat surface is provided between the frame (3) and the seat surface (4) as the only connection, wherein the end areas of two bar sections (24) are fastened at the first fastening element (7), which bar sections go away from the first fastening element (7) approximately horizontally and extend to the frame (3) or open into the frame, wherein the two bar sections (24) first extend in or opposite the sitting direction at a distance from the seat surface underside and diverge within an approximately horizontal plane in the area of the front or rear edge of the seat surface at the latest and thereupon are deflected to such an extent that the bar sections finally extend opposite the original direction and/or downward in the region of a respective lateral edge of the seat surface (4).
