PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING CONDUCTOR INSULATION

The invention relates to a method for producing an insulation (4) for a conductor (1), particularly for electric machines, the insulation (4) of said conductor (1) being applied by extruding a thermoplastic around the conductor (1). This method is characterised in that the conductor (1) is insulated (4) in a modulated manner (1) in terms of shape and layer thickness along the conductor (1). Following a subsequent winding process (9), this allows the winding (6) to have a uniform external dimension. In addition, the shape and the layer thickness of the insulation (4) may be designed such that the conductor surfaces on the interior of the winding (6) are insulated with a thinner layer thickness than those which are on the exterior of the winding (6).
