The crosslinkable polyethylene comprises trimethoxy silane and/or triethoxy silane groups and the silanol condensation catalyst comprises an inorganic tin compound in which a tin atom has no covalent bond to a carbon atom. The crosslinked composition can be used in a cable, such as an insulation layer.
