Zusammenfassung:An electronic timepiece (1) comprising a reception unit (10A) operable to receive satellite signals transmitted from positioning information satellites; a power supply having a battery (60) arranged to supply power; a timekeeping unit (25) arranged to keep time; and a remaining battery capacity measurement unit (23) arranged to measure the remaining battery capacity. The electronic timepiece further comprises a leap second information acquisition unit (24, 31) arranged to: operate the reception unit (10A) to receive a satellite signal; acquire leap second information contained in the satellite signal; and set a reception frequency that is a frequency with which the leap second information is acquired by the leap second information acquisition unit (24, 31). The leap second information acquisition unit (24, 31) is arranged to set the reception frequency to a first reception frequency that is higher than a second reception frequency when the remaining battery capacity measured by the remaining battery capacity measurement unit (23) is greater than or equal to a first specific value, and to set the reception frequency to the second reception frequency when the remaining battery capacity is less than the first specific value, said second reception frequency being higher than zero.
