Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method for detecting damage on a hollow shaft (1), said hollow shaft (1) having no radial peripheral notches, openings or channels. Said method comprises the following steps: (a) positioning a sensor (19) for emitting and capturing a signal on a front side (21) of the hollow shaft (1), (b) emitting a signal and capturing an echo of the signal, (c) determining the signal run time from the point in time of the signal emission to capturing the echo, (d) comparing the signal run time with a predetermined desired value and emitting a warning in the event of a difference.
