The current flowing in of one of the multiple measurement strands is determined, while an estimated value of the solar radiation is determined. The solar radiation is incident on a photovoltaic module of the strand during the determination of the current in each measurement strand. An independent claim is included for a performance determination device for determining the performance of components of a photovoltaic system or a photovoltaic system.
