Zusammenfassung:	The present invention refers to domestic hot water heaters that use heat pumps, and in particular heat pumps using carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) as working fluid. Such heaters (1) are characterized by the prearrangement of the water storage tank (2) having a tall and narrow shape, by a duct (20) for circulating the water through a heat exchanger (32) placed externally to the tank and having a particular diameter, by a positioning of such exchanger below the halfway height level of the tank, and, preferably, by a control of the temperature of the CO 2 on outflow from the heat exchanger (32).
