Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a driver assistance device (2) for a motor vehicle (1), having an ultrasonic sensor (3) which has a diaphragm (7) for emitting ultrasonic waves and an oscillator (10) for generating an oscillator signal (9) to excite the diaphragm (7), and having a control device (4) for actuating the ultrasonic sensor (3), wherein the oscillator (10) is a temperature-dependent oscillator (10), with the result that the frequency of the oscillator signal (9) is dependent on the ambient temperature of the ultrasonic sensor (3), and the control device (4) is designed to determine the ambient temperature on the basis of a sensor signal (12), generated on the basis of the oscillator signal (9), of the ultrasonic sensor (3).
