Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a quality control device for determining the position of a shaped object located within a filter of a smoking article. The device comprises: a tube for longitudinally accommodating the filter to be controlled, a closing element for closing one end of the tube, the closing element provided with reference means for checking the position of the shaped object on the end surface of the filter when the filter is accommodated into the tube, wherein a portion of the closing element is at least partially transparent, the reference means being arranged on the at least partially transparent portion of the closing element for indicating a desired position for the shaped object on the end surface of the filter. Further, the invention refers to a method to control the position of a shaped object located within a filter of a smoking article.
