Zusammenfassung:	The application relates to a device for preventing and/or treating urinary tract infections in the region of the ureter, in particular to a device having a mandrel (1) which can be inserted in the ureter and which includes a coating that develops an antimicrobial effect in the ureter. The device comprises, for example, a cylindrical mandrel (1) connected to a disk-shaped stop element (2) and a cylindrical handle (3). The device can be coated, for example, by applying a ruthenium coating to a silver-containing surface of the device. The surface of the device coated in said manner can then be activated by applying at least one vitamin and, optionally, at least one surface-active substance to create the antimicrobial effect.
