Zusammenfassung:	A seal (109; 111) for an assay cartridge is elongate and resiliently deformable, having a cross-section (146; 154) that comprises at least one concave curved edge (148, 150; 156, 158). The seal (109; 111) may comprise two elongate concave faces (148, 150; 156, 158) that are asymmetrical to each other and that are connected by a horizontal edge face (152; 160). It may provide a liquid-tight seal at the tops of wells (30-44) defined by a base member (26) and extension member (28) of an assay cartridge, when a cap member (86) of the assay cartridge is urged towards the base and extension members (26, 28).
