JOINT GEOMETRIC AND PHOTOMETRIC MULTIVIEW IMAGE REGISTRATION

A method for registering a multiview image (I, J) comprises performing a geometric registration between a first image (I) and a second image (J) of the multiview image (I, J) to obtain a current geometric registration function (un(x)). The method further comprises performing a photometric registration between the first image (I) and a geometrically registered version (J') of the second image (J) to obtain an update information ( Delta(∂E/∂p) ) for a current set (pn) of photometric parameters. The geometrically registered version (J') is determined on the basis of the current geometric registration function (un(x)). The current set (pn) of photometric parameters is then updated on the basis of the update information ( Delta(∂Epsilon/∂p) ) to obtain an updated set (pn+1) of photometric parameters. The geometric registration and the photometric registration are then conditionally repeated with the updated set (pn+1) of photometric parameters.
