An article of footwear (19) comprises an upper (14) configured to receive a foot; and a sole structure (12) fixedly attached to the upper (14) and including a sole component (30) having a ground-engaging lower surface (902). The sole structure (12) further includes a chassis (100) configured to provide support to the sole component (30). The chassis (100) includes a forefoot region (16), a midfoot region (18), a heel region (20), a lateral width, and a central portion (138) extending through at least a portion of the forefoot region (16), the midfoot region (18), and the heel region (20). The chassis (100) further includes a plurality of chassis projections (140) extending laterally from the central portion (138) of the chassis (100). At least one of the chassis projections (140) is made from a first material and a second material having a substantially different level of flexibility than the first material.
