Zusammenfassung:	The device has a control unit i.e. microcontroller (2), for controlling a phase switching power stage (1) connected between a phase of a sector and a luminous load (4). A switch mode power supply (3) is connected between the phase and a neutral of the sector. A filtering capacitor (5) is connected between the phase of the sector and the load in parallel to the power stage to reduce noise on the sector. A suppression unit suppresses leakage current generated by the filtering capacitor when the load is not controlled. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a light intensity varying device.
