The apparatus includes a reference depth plane setting unit (110) configured or having a capacity to set a reference depth plane (210) using data associated with a three-dimensional (3D) object (200), a first hologram pattern generating unit (120) configured to generate a first hologram pattern (211, 212) corresponding to the 3D object (200,201,202) in the reference depth plane (210), and a second hologram pattern generating unit (130) configured to generate a second hologram pattern (221,222) in a hologram plane (220) using the first hologram pattern.
