Zusammenfassung:	An apparatus for applying a flexible annular strip (10) to a radially inward oriented surface (5) of a tire (1) is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a plurality of segments (20, 40) arranged about the apparatus' central axis, each segment (20, 40) being movable between a collapsed radial position and an expanded radial position with respect to the central axis, each segment (20, 40) having a radial outer surface for supporting at least a part of a length of the annular strip (10); a plurality of fingers (30) arranged about the central axis and extending in a direction parallel to the central axis, wherein each finger (30) is movable between an inner radial position and an outer radial position with respect to the central axis, and wherein each angular area between two circumferentially neighboring segments (20, 40) is provided with at least one of the fingers (30); and actuation means for moving the segments (20, 40) between the expanded position and the collapsed position. Also, a method for applying a flexible annular strip (10) to a radially inward oriented surface (5) of a tire (1) using such an apparatus is disclosed.
