Zusammenfassung:	The connector (10) has plastic optical port (20) with opening (20a) at front side for receiving an end of optical fiber cable (21). The conductive lines (22) are encapsulated in optical port, and an optoelectronic device (23) is provided at proximal end of one conductive line. An integrated circuit (IC) chip is provided at the proximal end of another fixed conductive line. The electrically conductive bonding wires (25) are encapsulated in optical port to connect the optoelectronic device and IC chip with one another. An independent claim is included for a method for assembling AOC.
