Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a percussion device of a rock breaking device and to a method for controlling the percussion device. The percussion device (11) comprises a percussion piston (22), the work cycle of which is controlled by means of a sleeve-like control valve (31).An annular space between the percussion piston and valve has impulse spaces (34, 35) in the impact direction (A) and return direction (B). A pressure pulse is generated in the impulse spaces, when their pressure connection (Y1, Y2) is closed by means of an impulse edge (S1, S2) in the percussion piston. The pressure pulse acts on a pressure surface (36, 37) of the valve in the impulse space and generates an initial impulse for the alternating movement of the valve, and the valve then changes its position.
