Seamless display of objects

A method for generating a database (50) of a geographical map of a navigation device (40), the geographical map (50) covering a geographical area which is divided into several update regions (51a, 52a), the method comprising the steps of: - identifying at least one object (80, 90) in the geographical map which covers an object area in the geographical area, the object area being divided into different parts (81, 82, 91, 92) which are located in different update regions (51a, 52a), - storing in the database (50), for each of said at least one object, information indicating that the object area overlaps with plural update regions (51a, 52a), the information comprising pointers to update regions in which the respective different parts (81, 82, 91, 92) of the object area are stored.
