Zusammenfassung:	An object of the invention is to detect, in a fuel injection control system for an internal combustion engine equipped with a low pressure fuel pump and a high pressure fuel pump, a failure in the fuel injection system including the high pressure fuel pump with high accuracy. To achieve the object, in the fuel injection control system for an internal combustion engine equipped with a low pressure fuel pump and a high pressure fuel pump according to the invention, when a discharge failure in the high pressure fuel pump is detected, the discharge pressure of the low pressure fuel pump is increased. Then, it is determined whether a discharge failure in the high pressure fuel pump occurs or not. If occurs, it is concluded that the fuel injection system including the high pressure fuel pump is in failure.
