Zusammenfassung:	The method involves loading a driver supply (2) with group (3) of n-shells (4), and forming a gap between groups with length of two times driver distance (D) minus valve width. The group of the n-shells of the driver supply is passed to a collecting conveyer (9) and applied by grippers of the collecting conveyer for transportation into a seal device (11). The driver supply and the collecting conveyer are operated velocity-synchronously when passing the shells. An independent claim is also included for a shell locking machine. Die Erfindung betrifft eine Schalenverschließmaschine (1) und ein Verfahren zum Betrieb einer Schalenverschließmaschine (1), bei der auf einer Mitnehmerzuführung (2) Gruppen (3) von Schalen (4) einem Sammelförderer (9) zugeführt werden und die Gruppe (3) von Schalen (4) von dem Sammelförderer (9) mittels eines Greifersystems (16) in eine Siegelvorrichtung (11) weitertransportiert wird, wobei auf der Mitnehmerzuführung (2) eine Lücke (15) zwischen zwei aufeinander nachfolgende Gruppen (3) vorgesehen ist.
