A surface treating agent (6) is applied to the second surface (2b) of the travelling fiber web (2) such that the surface treatment agent (6) is applied to the fiber web (2) at the same coating station (1) as the coating is applied. The coating station (1) comprises means for applying surface treatment agent (6) to the second surface (2b) of the travelling fiber web (2).
