Process for the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions comprising febuxostat in the form of tablets

The invention relates to a process for the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions comprising the steps of: a.1) mixing or blending powders comprising febuxostat and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient in solid form using convection mixers or blenders at least until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, optionally mixing or blending the previous mixture with further excipients in solid form; or alternatively a.2) mixing or blending powders comprising febuxostat with at least one disintegrating agent in solid form until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, optionally mixing or blending the previous mixture with further excipients in solid form, wherein the w/w % of disintegrating agents is not lower than 8 % of the pharmaceutical composition; and b) compressing the mixture of step (a) into tablets.
