Zusammenfassung:	A method to obtain a cloud-stored virtual desktop (110) comprising a set of user preferences (111), applications (112) and shortcuts to files (113) that a user desires to access, comprises: A. transferring from a client device (101, 201) to a cloud broker (102, 202) a virtual desktop request (211) comprising a user identification (UserID) and a client device type identification (DeviceType); B. passing the virtual desktop request (212) to a cloud desktop agent (131, 203) responsible for maintenance of virtual desktops and virtual desktop metadata in the cloud storage system (103); C. selecting by the cloud desktop agent (131, 203) a list of available virtual desktops for the user and the client device type based on a comparison with the virtual desktop metadata; D. transferring the list of available virtual desktops (213) to the cloud broker (102, 202); and E. forwarding the list of available virtual desktops (214) from the cloud broker (102, 202) to the client device (101, 201) to enable the user to select a virtual desktop (110) to be opened.
