Zusammenfassung:	A charging station (50) for an electric vehicle (4) placed on a charging parking space (60) comprises a robotic charging device (1) having a charging interface adapted to functionally engage a complementary charging interface of the electric vehicle (4) and further comprises a control unit adapted to move the robotic charging device (1) automatically into a position so that the charging interface of the robotic charging device (1) functionally engages the complementary charging interface of the electric vehicle (4). The charging station (50) is connected to an electric power source (22, 23). The robotic charging device (1) is a self propelled device having a cable connection (24) to the electric power source (22, 23) to allow a secure charging of any car provided on the parking place (60).
