Zusammenfassung:	The method involves changing cooling capacity of a cooling system (5) of an inverter (1). A check is made whether temperature within the inverter is changed during a test period by a certain amount. A malfunction of the cooling system is determined when the temperature is not changed by the particular amount, where the cooling system comprises a fan (2). The cooling performance is changed such that rotational speed of the fan is changed. The rotational speed of the fan is increased when a cooling request requests reduction of the cooling capacity of the cooling system. An independent claim is also included for an inverter.
