Zusammenfassung:Method (M1) for imparting, modifying or intensifying an odor and/or taste, involves: incorporating a fragrance and/or flavoring material or fragrance and/or flavoring material mixture comprising, a substituted 2,3,3-trimethyl-2,3-dihydro-benzofuran compound (I) or a mixture of >= 2 different compounds (I). Method (M1) for imparting, modifying or intensifying an odor and/or taste, involves: incorporating a fragrance and/or flavoring material or fragrance and/or flavoring material mixture comprising, a substituted 2,3,3-trimethyl-2,3-dihydro-benzofuran compound of formula (I) or a mixture of >= 2 different compounds (I).R 1, R 2, R 3 and R 4=H, methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, sec-butyl, tert-butyl, isobutyl, acetyl, formyl or cyano. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a fragrance and/or flavoring material mixture (M1), comprising: the compound of (I) or a mixture of >= 2 different compounds (I); and >= 1 further fragrance and/or flavoring material that is not the compound (I); (2) a perfumed and/or flavored article comprising: the fragrance and/or flavoring material mixture (M1); (3) new substituted 2,3,3-trimethyl-2,3-dihydro-benzofuran compound of formula (Ia), a mixture of >= 2 different compounds (Ia), and its/their residues .
