The invention relates to a steam iron (14), comprising a water channel (28) for filling a water tank (20), which is arranged in a housing, and comprising an air channel (64) for allowing air to escape from the water tank during filling, wherein the water channel and the air channel are fluidically separated from each other in the filling direction by a partition wall which has a wall section (40) that is integrated into an insertion element (34) and that forms a sealed area (70) with a wall section (60) of the partition wall (62) arranged inside the housing. The invention is suitable in particular for providing an iron which is easy to assemble and disassemble, from the water tank of which air can always reliably escape while the water tank is being filled with water, which prevents soiling of a water channel and an air channel, and which is simple to produce.
