Zusammenfassung:	The device has a receiver unit (2) that includes support surface (4) for receiving empty container (1) in first rotational position of rotary element and for discharging container in second rotational position. The shape of container is detected by an optical detection unit (6). The image data of optical detection unit is processed by a control unit (8) for driving the rotary element. The support surface is provided with reference pattern so that the identification data of container is obtained by optical detection unit for detecting the shape and the position of the container. An independent claim is included for a method for detecting empty container in reverse vending machine.
