Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a control device for controlling an electric drive of an electric bicycle. Said control device comprises a current supply inlet configured to connect to an accumulator of the electric bicycle, and a control outlet configured to connect to said electric drive. In addition, the control device comprises a lighting circuit with a lighting means connection and a lighting monitor. Said lighting monitor comprises a current detection circuit configured to determine, directly or indirectly, the electric current that is emitted at the lighting means connection. The lighting monitor is configured to provide a warning signal if the electric current that has been determined lies outside of a standard current interval. In addition, the invention relates to a method for supplying electric loads of an electric bicycle. According to this method, an electric drive of the electric bicycle, as one of said electric loads, is supplied by means of a control device which draws electric power from an accumulator of the electric bicycle. A further electric load is that of a light of the electric bicycle, which is supplied with electric current from a lighting circuit of the control device. A lighting monitor of the control device monitors operation by detecting the current with which the lighting circuit is supplied from the control device. The current is detected by a current detection circuit of the lighting circuit, and said current detection circuit is formed from the control device.
