A communication satellite (102) includes an application unit for periodically applying a switching sequence that includes a set of switching phases. One of the phases corresponds to a switching period duration during which signals emitted by an aircraft (100) present in a spot are processed by the satellite so as to detect monitoring messages. The sequence is adapted so as to allow detection of one of the monitoring messages of the aircraft on the coverage area for a predetermined period. An independent claim is also included for a receiving device embarked in a satellite. |
