Zusammenfassung:	A method for production of the identification medium is provided, in which a counterfeit product having similar appearance as that of an authentic one can be easily detected and in which the code can be read with high accuracy. The method for production of an identification medium, contains a forming step in which a code printed pattern 107 is formed by printing; and a joining step in which the code printed pattern 107 and a cholesteric liquid crystal layer 102 are joined; wherein the identification medium comprises, in order, seen from an observing side: a cholesteric liquid crystal layer 102, in which a hologram is processed and right circularly polarized light is reflected; a circularly polarizing filter layer 106 having a structure formed by laminating a »/4 plate and a linearly polarizing filter from the observing side, in which left circularly polarized light selectively penetrates toward the cholesteric liquid crystal layer 102 when natural light enters from the opposite side to the cholesteric liquid crystal layer side 102; and a code printed pattern 107, in which a two-dimensional codes is formed.
