description Preparing chlorine dioxide from hydrochloric acid and sodium chlorite in the presence of water, is claimed, where the concentration of hydrochloric acid and sodium chlorite in aqueous solution is 27-33 wt.% and 2-27 wt.%, respectively, and the molar ratio of hydrochloric acid to sodium chlorite is 2.14:4.2. Independent claims are included for: (1) treating water with chlorine dioxide comprising providing water to be treated, providing a reactor, immersing the reactor into water to be treated, providing hydrochloric acid in aqueous solution to external water to be treated, providing sodium chlorite in aqueous solution to external water to be treated, promoting aqueous hydrochloric acid and aqueous sodium chlorite into the reactor, reacting aqueous hydrochloric acid and aqueous sodium chlorite in the reactor to chlorine dioxide in aqueous solution and mixing aqueous chlorine dioxide with water to be treated; and (2) a device comprising sodium chlorite storage tank (1), hydrochloric acid storage tank (2), two pumps (3, 4) for promoting hydrochloric acid in aqueous solution with a first volumetric flow and/or sodium chlorite in aqueous solution with a second volumetric flow from respective tanks into a reactor (5).
