FILTER AND COOLING APPARATUS

The present invention relates to an apparatus (1) for filtering and cooling a liquid, especially a liquid circuit, for example a lubricant oil circuit of an internal combustion engine, comprising a filter device (2) which has, in a filter housing (4), at least one filter element (5) which separates a dirty side (6) from a clean side (7) in the filter housing (4), comprising a cooling device (3) which has a heat exchanger (10) with a connection side (11) having a cooler inlet (12) and a cooler outlet (13), and comprising a filter bypass valve (18) which opens from a predetermined pressure difference between dirty side (6) and clean side (7), and provides fluidic connection of the dirty side (6) to the clean side (7) bypassing the filter element (5). The filter bypass valve (18) has an adjustable valve body (19) which interacts with a valve seat (20) to control a filter bypass orifice (21) which provides fluidic connection of the dirty side (6) to the clean side (7), and a closing pressure spring (22) which drives the valve body (19) into a closure position which closes the filter bypass valve (21) and is supported on a valve cage (23). A simplified construction arises when the valve seat (20) is integrated on the connection side (11) of the heat exchanger (10) and/or the valve cage (23) is integrated on the filter housing (4).
