Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a cooking apparatus, in particular a rotary barbecue apparatus and peripherals for it. The invention proposes a thermal appliance for preparing food, comprising a cooking chamber having a heating system, at least one rotating spit system, at least one motor for driving the spit system, a first temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of the cooking climate in the cooking chamber, and an appliance controller for controlling the cooking process. The appliance is distinguished by a core temperature sensor device for detecting the core temperature of the food being barbecued, wherein the core temperature sensor device is coupled to the appliance controller, and the climate in the cooking chamber is adjusted by means of the appliance controller, wherein the core temperature sensor device which is connected to the food being barbecued is coupled to the appliance controller via a wireless signal transmission path.
